Year 6 Visit Castle Rising

Year 6 investigate a 12th century Norman castle.
Year 6 spent an amazing day at Castle Rising in Norfolk investigating castles in order to kick-start our new theme about important turning points in British history. Even though it was one of the hottest days of the year so far we had a wonderful day trying to discover just how the Normans defended their properties after invading England in 1066. From drawbridges to portcullises, arrow slits to murder holes, battlements to ramparts we discovered so much about this important 12th century castle and its many defensive features.
