The Seaside

To start this terms theme on 'The Seaside' we transported the children back to London and told a story about Samul Pepys watching the street entertainers. The children have already learnt about Samuel Pepys so were eager to learn more.

To start this terms theme on 'The Seaside' we transported the children back to London and told a story about Samul Pepys watching the street entertainers. The children have already learnt about Samuel Pepys so were eager to learn more. The traditional street entertainment of Punch and Judy were introduced to the children and they found out that these shows were taken to the seaside by the coming of the railways.

They met Punch and Judy puppets and Mrs Thompson and Miss Ward put on a puppet show, which was loved by all. After this they watched part of a Punch and Judy Show from a seaside. The childern quickly got into the show and were soon laughing at the show. To follow this we made our own Punch and Judy puppets and then used them in the puppet theatre. The children really enjoyed this activity and are excited about learning more about the seaside.
