Light and Shadow Investigation Day

Year 4 had an excellent day learning about light and shadow.

Year 4 had an excellent day learning about light and shadow. This was part of our introduction to our new topic "Light and Sound".

Our first investigation involved finding out how the time of day affected the length of our shadows. We had to go outside and measure the length of our shadows at different times of the day. To do this, we also had to think about how we could make our experiment a fair test. For example, we had to make sure that we measured the same person's shadow every time.

We also did a shadow puppet investigation where we investigated whether the length of our shadow puppet would change if we moved the torch further away.

The children really enjoyed learning about how lights and shadow and how shadows are affected by changes in the world around us. We will certainly be looking at shadows in the world around us differently now!
