Stibbington Nativity Day
On Wednesday 2nd December Reception class visitied Stibbington for a fun-filled Nativity day. The day started by listening to the Christmas story and talking about Jesus. We then went outside looking for clues from the story and found items such as a jug, rope, white cloth, hay and a walking stick. Afterwards we got dressed in Nativity costumes and acted out the story in the grounds of Stibbington. We managed to travel to Bethlehem, found a cosy stable to rest in, saw the shepherds and angels on the hillside, then watched as the 3 Wise Men brought gifts for baby Jesus.
After lunch we listened to the story of Holly the hedgehog - she wanted to take a gift to Jesus, but couldn't decide what to take. With the help of her animal friends she collected different objects; something shiny, something colourful, something soft, something noisy and something golden. The children collected natural objects from outdoors and stuck them to a story strip. They then made hedgehogs from clay.
The final task of the afternoon was to decorate a Christmas tree shape using lentils. The children will be able to hang these on their christmas tree at home.
