Fly high beautiful butterflies!

This week we have waved goodbye to our beautiful butterflies!

Three weeks ago five tiny caterpillars arrived in the classroom. We have watched them grow into bigger and fatter caterpillars and then saw them each turn into a chrysalis. At the start of the week all five emerged as beautiful butterflies! The process has been fascinating to watch and has sparked lots of discussion, reading and writing around the life cycle of a butterfly.

On Tuesday the children released the butterflies in the outdoor area. They took some persuading to leave the loving hands of the children though! It was a lovely experience and the children were fascinated that they could actually hold a real butterfly!
