Bishop Creighton Academy

Welcome Back!

Welcome back Year 6, what a magnificent start to the new academic year!

Wow, what a magnificent start to the new academic year! Two days in and it’s smiles all around! Despite it being the first day back after a lovely six week break, I challenged the new Year Sixes to some autobiography writing and it blew me away! Not only did I find out lots about them all, I was able to see all of their super writing skills they had learnt in Year Five!

As well as writing autobiographies, today we focused on fictional writing. With the opportunity to write about anything, Year 6 planned their very own narratives and then turned them into a short story. When they had finished they edited with their purple polishing pen and then a few children shared theirs with the class! Already on two, we’re making super vocabulary choices and presenting our work well!

Aside from the writing, we’ve also delved into our new theme topic – Space! We had a huge class discussion to find out what we already know (which was very impressive) and then posed questions of things we wanted to investigate! Myself and Miss Hewitt were blown away with the existing knowledge around the room! It clearly demonstrates lots of people spend their time reading!

If the last two days are anything to go by then this year is going to be filled with lots of brilliant work and I’m sure we going to have lots of fun along the way! I can’t express how impressed I am, what a fabulous start to the year! Well done Year 6, you have made your new teachers very proud!
