Painting poppies

This week in Theme we researched why the Poppy is a significant symbol for remembering wars and soldiers. We then used it as a source of inspiration to create some art.

Our Theme this half term in Year 5 is Castles and WWI; we researched why the Poppy is a significant symbol for wars. We also researched why it is called remembrance and whether a Poppy is an adequate symbol. We had some lovely ideas! We viewed photos of various poppies; before we painted our own we spoke about the different colours we would use and why. When painting our poppies we used different brush techniques to create different effects. All the paintings turned out absolutely beautiful and the children loved painting!

"This was so much fun, I don't ever have time to paint at home, i was so happy we got to do this" - Goda

"I love this Miss Choudhary, it's fun!" - Demid

Well done 5RC what super painters you all are!
