Can we build it?

Can you build a home like Bob the Builder? The children in Penguin class certainly can!

Continuing with our 'Marvellous Me' theme we have been looking at photos of our homes and buildings in our local area. The children were most excited to see the photos and were able to name the buildings such as the cathedral, local mosque, Asda and Queensgate.

Using the wooden blocks the children built replicas of the buildings in the photos. There was a great deal of conversation about the shapes they could see and whether it was easier to build on flat or curved surfaces. After much exploration the children agreed that flat surfaces were the best when building!

Some children used the large foam blocks outdoors to investigate building with a different resource.
