Bishop Creighton Academy

Our visit to the Library

Today we walked to the Central Library and chose some books to borrow.

This term every class in the academy are going to visit Central Library as part of an initiative to get every child joining the library. Today was the turn of Penguin Class!

We were very excited to walk the short distance to the library this afternoon. It was even more special that many of our parents/grandparents were able to come along and share the adventure too!

Once we arrived we were given a quick tour of the children's section and introduced to the different sections of books. We then got busy browsing the shelves for books to share with our friends and family. The children were soon engrossed in a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books.

As the afternoon went on everyone that had their library card with them was able to choose 2 books to borrow. There was great excitement at learning how to use the electronic borrowing machine! How clever that you put your pile of books inside and it knows what books you have chosen in the blink of an eye!

Before heading back to school Mrs Jordan read us a story.

What a superb afternoon we had! The children were very eager to share their borrowed books with their family and can't wait to take them along to exchange their books for new ones! We hope to visit the library again in the summer term.
