The one minute challenge!

Year 1 enjoyed some fantastic outdoor learning in Maths this week! Year 1 began to learn all about time this week in Maths. We have been working really hard trying to understand; seconds, minutes and hours. On Tuesday morning I set year one a challenge! "How many XX can you do in one minute?"

Year 1 began to learn all about time this week in Maths. We have been working really hard trying to understand; seconds, minutes and hours. On Tuesday morning I set year one a challenge! "How many XX can you do in one minute"- Year 1 enjoyed a morning of activities including starjumps, going down the slide, bunny hops and sitting down then standing up. It was like we had our own mini olympics going on!

The aim of the one minute challenge was for year one to understand that a minute is only 60 seconds and that there are different ways to time one minute. The children were able to use a clock, sandtimer, stop watch and an interactive countdown noise! The children worked together in teams to count how many jumps or hops they did in the minute before recording their results in a mini booklet!

Year 1 really did rise to the challenge and I am so proud of their hard work and effort towards their learning this week! Don't forget to have a look at the photographs of the children in the photo album - click here! Well done year one, keep up the hard work! Miss Ward
